The cookies used are needed for the portal to work properly and help us to improve the organisation of content and the usability of the site through the anonymous tracking of visitor behaviour.
The portal does not use profiling cookies aimed at creating user profiles. The portal uses only technical cookies and Google Analytics cookies.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites send to the browser on the device used by the user (computer, tablet, smartphone, notebook), where they are stored and then sent back to the same websites during the current visit or a subsequent one.
What are technical cookies?
Technical cookies are used to perform various functions (authentication, session monitoring, storage of user preferences, etc.) without which some operations would be very complex or impossible to carry out.
For further information on cookies, see the page of the Italian Data Protection Authority “How to protect yourself from cookies”
Which cookies does the portal use?
Google Analytics cookies
Google Analytics uses first-party cookies to generate reports on visitor interactions with websites. These cookies are used to store information that does not allow users to be personally identified. Browsers do not share first-party cookies across domains. Google Analytics cookies are collected and managed anonymously to monitor and improve the performance of the site. The Unina portal does not use Google’s analytics tool to track or collect personally identifiable information.
The Google Analytics cookies used on the portal are:
| Cookie | Duration | Purpose |
| __utma | 2 years from creation/update | Used to distinguish users and sessions. This cookie is created on the first visit to the portal if it is not already present in the browser |
| __utmb | 30 minutes from creation/update | Used to detect new sessions/visits. This cookie is created on the first visit to the portal if it is not already present in the browser |
| __utmc | User session | Cookie set only for interoperability with the previous Analytics library (urchin.js) |
| __utmz | Six months from creation/update | Used to store the traffic source: it helps to understand how the user reached the site |
For further information on Google Analytics cookies and on the user’s privacy conditions, see the page Analytics data protection.
If you wish to prevent the use of your data by Analytics, you can install a browser add-on developed by Google that disables data collection. For further information, see the page Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Permanently disabling Google Analytics cookies does not affect the use of the Unina portal.
