Final examination [Bachelor’s]

Final examination

The aim of the final examination of the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Mathematics is to assess the student’s ability to study independently a topic closely connected with the educational activities of the Degree Programme and to present it in public clearly and concisely. To this end, the final dissertation is a review-type work, typically structured as a report, focused on a specific, well-contextualised topic (e.g. a chapter of a textbook, a scientific article, the use of a software package). This work is normally carried out over a period of no more than 3 months assuming full-time commitment, is limited to 30 pages and must be carried out under the supervision of a supervisor appointed by the Teaching Coordination Committee. The final mark is expressed out of 110, possibly with honours (lode), and is determined taking into account both the student’s academic career and the discussion of the dissertation.
