Current Degree Pathway

Enrolment

The admission requirements for the Master’s Degree Programme in Mathematics are as follows:

  • Admission to the Master’s Degree Programme in Mathematics is granted:
  • a) to students holding a degree in Class L-35 under D.M. 270/04 or Class 32 under D.M. 509/99 (Mathematical Sciences). In this case, students are admitted directly to the Master’s Degree Programme.
  • b) to students holding a degree, at least first-level, in a class other than the one referred to in point a), among those listed in the table annexed to D.M. 270/04. In this case, students are admitted subject to approval by the Teaching Coordination Committee of the Degree Programme, after assessment of their previous university career. The adequacy of the student’s initial preparation will be verified on the basis of their previous academic record, according to the procedures defined in the Teaching Regulations of the Degree Programme. Having assessed the previous university career, the CCD may require enrolment in individual courses before enrolment in the Master’s Degree, so as to ensure adequate basic knowledge in all the mathematical scientific-disciplinary sectors included in the Teaching Regulations of the Degree Programme.

The Master’s Degree pathway in Mathematics set out in the Regulations currently in force is shown here.

Resolutions

  • Students may include 1 related or free-choice course in the first year, provided that characterising courses worth the same number of credits are moved to the second year.
  • All courses taught in the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Mathematics, the Master’s Degree Programme in Mathematics and the Master’s Degree Programme in Mathematical Engineering of the University “Federico II” are deemed consistent with the educational pathway and may be taken as free-choice exams. No request to the Student Office is required to take these exams.
  • In view of the request from students enrolled before the a.y. 20/21 to be allowed to take the exam “Algorithms and Applications for Data Science” as a related/supplementary activity, although it is not included in Annex B1/3 of the Teaching Regulations, and considering that this course already appears among such activities for students enrolled from the a.y. 2020/21 onwards,  the Student Affairs Subcommittee allows students enrolled before the a.y. 2020/21 to include the course “Algorithms and Applications for Data Science” in their study plan as a related/supplementary activity, provided that they have completed their free-choice activities by 27/2/2021. All other students enrolled before the a.y. 20/21 may still take the exam “Algorithms and Applications for Data Science” as a free-choice activity.
